Historic Mesquite Inc. to giveaway planter chair
Ann Cox-Rowland, a local artist and Historic Mesquite Inc. board director, has donated a planter chair to be given away during the Florence Ranch Homestead’s grand reopening taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 14.
Rodeo Parade entry deadline Friday
Businesses, churches, clubs and groups are invited to enter the annual Rodeo Parade. Entry forms are available at www.realtexasfestival.com, the Mesquite Chamber of Commerce at 617 N. Ebrite and at the City of Mesquite, 1515 N. Galloway. Entry cost is $45 per group. Deadline for entry is Friday.
This year’s parade is celebrating the 50th season of the Mesquite Championship Rodeo and is part of the larger, Real. Texas. Festival. presented by Dodge -- a two day event at Resistol Arena April 26-28.
All participants in the parade will be expected to show their rodeo pride by dressing and decorating with a rodeo theme. For more information about the parade, contact 214-766-5606.
Trash Bash event nearing
The annual city of Mesquite Trash Bash event will take place at 8:30 a.m. April 21 at City Lake Park. Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to call 972-329-8331.
MISD superintendent to be honored
Mesquite ISD superintendent Linda Henrie, Ed. D., will be honored as the winner of the 2007 WISE Award by Mesquite Social Services on April 25.
The guest emcee for the event is Kristine Kahanek, weather anchor for Channel 11.
Other honorees include Patti Hawkins, Pat Ogles and Marjorie Seward, in addition to the Mesquite Service League. A silent auction takes place at 10:30 a.m. and registration begins at 11 a.m. For information call Mesquite Social Services at 972-285-3000.
Realtors to assist fire departments
The Metro-Tex Association of Realtors will be knocking on doors again on April 14 for their 5th semi-annual Operation Installation. The Realtors and Associates work with the Balch Springs and Mesquite Fire Departments to check for working smoke detectors.
If the home does not have working smoke detectors they will install them free of charge to the homeowner. The group wants to make sure every family knows the importance of working smoke detectors and having a family plan and escape route in case of fire.
The group has been working all year to raise money to buy the smoke detectors and batteries. They have installed more than 600 smoke detectors in the past two years. The Balch Springs team will be in the Hilltop Estates area this year.

“Cowgirl Christmas” Holiday Market seeks vendors
The Mesquite Service League’s “Cowgirl Christmas” holiday market, set for Oct. 26 and 27, is currently accepting applications from vendors. Interested merchants who sell crafts, artwork, gifts, specialty apparel, jewelry, decorative accessories, gourmet edibles and children’s items are invited to visit the League’s Web site at www.mesquiteserviceleague.com for a downloadable vendor application.
“Cowgirl Christmas” is a fundraising event for the Mesquite Service League which celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2007. Shoppers will enjoy a festive market atmosphere featuring juried vendors, seasonal entertainment and true Texas hospitality. The event is expected to draw thousands of visitors from throughout the Metroplex and East Texas. The holiday market will benefit the league’s scholarship fund and program of charitable giving.

" i live in mesquite and i have a neighbor that is harrassing me i can't get any help,she harrasses my daughter,she called c.p.s. and
told them i raped my daughters in my shed.she stole my grandsons scooters she pulls my fence posts out of the ground.
she is suing me for trimming my own hedges i have had to get two lawyersthen she pulled the hedges and planted the new ones 1.5
feet over so there in her yard, she floods my yard every week so the city can't catch her.then she tells the police and c.p.s. that i'm masterbate at her windows.
the police say they can't do anything,c.p.s. says they can't do anything.and she waters on the weekend till she floods all the way from the side yard to my back fence. "
