Christmas parade reset for Dec. 10
By Dan Eakin, deakin@acnpapers.com
The McKinney Rotary Club's 12th annual Christmas Parade of Lights has been reset for Saturday, Dec. 10, due to a forecast of heavy rain for Saturday, Dec. 3, the original date scheduled.
Chris Siebenhausen, parade chairman, told the Rotary Club at noon Friday that the rescheduling was necessary because heavy rain was anticipated.
"We have never had to postpone the parade before because of rain," he said. "We have had some cold days, but it has always been dry."
He said the only thing different will be the date of the parade, and that it is still scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 10.
About 60 entries are expected to be in the parade to compete for a total of $1,500 of prize money going to the top three winners. Each business or organization entering the competition pays an entry fee of $35. The Rotary Club gives any profits after expenses to various charitable organizations.
