Hunting in Allen

With the opening of dove season, hunters are reminded of state laws governing the discharge of firearms in the City of Allen and Collin County. Hunters who obtain the permission of property owners for use of land to hunt must ensure that they remain at least 1,000 feet from schools, hospitals and day care facilities, as well as at least 600 feet from residential housing and multi-family residential complexes. Additionally, hunters should ensure that weapons are fired in a manner that will not cause projectile to cross the boundary of property tracts.

The Allen Police Department will be working with hunters and landowners to ensure safe hunting practices. Residents are urged to contact the police department at 214-509-4321 if they feel that safe and reasonable distances are not being followed by hunters.
