Price, Jordan earn Player of the Week honors
From Staff Reports
Frisco:
Centennial senior quarterback Lamar Jordan
Centennial finished the 2011 season without losing a game against district counterparts and last week the Titans picked right up where they left off.
Jordan accounted for a 27-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Cody Bagwell on the game’s opening drive before adding an 11-yard rushing touchdown later in the quarter that gave the Titans all the momentum they would need.
The senior eventually added the dagger in the fourth quarter after sprinting 49 yards for another touchdown, giving the Titans an insurmountable lead.
Centennial will now look to continue its district dominance tonight with a 7 p.m. road game against Prosper.
Little Elm:
Little Elm senior athlete Jaylen Price
With Little Elm trailing 14-0 at halftime of last Thursday’s game against Frisco Centennial, the Lobos needed a quick change of momentum to keep a comeback chance alive.
Senior return man Jaylen Price provided that spark, returning the opening kickoff of the second half 102 yards for a touchdown. The score put the Lobos within one touchdown of the defending District 9-4A champs and provided Little Elm with its first points of the night.
Although Little Elm fell, 38-13, in the game, it had the Titans sweating until the final quarter. Price, who accounted for half of his team’s touchdowns in the game, and the Lobos will return to action tonight against Liberty for a 7 p.m. Homecoming game. A win would put Little Elm at 1-1 against district counterparts.
