Wakeland junior quarterback Jackson Lamb

After a district-opening loss to Frisco two weeks ago, the Wolverines were in need of a victory during Friday night’s game against Heritage.

Junior quarterback Jackson Lamb delivered for Wakeland and helped lead the team to a 44-7 win over the Coyotes.

Lamb completed 7-of-13 pass attempts in the contest for 220 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions while also adding two touchdowns on the ground.

It was also Lamb’s 60-yard touchdown strike to senior receiver Turner Smiley in the first quarter that set the tone for the entire night.

The junior signal caller has racked up 1,550 yards through the air this season with 16 total touchdowns and just two interceptions.

Lamb and the Wolverines will have a tougher task tonight with a 7 p.m. road game against first-place Prosper.

Little Elm senior running back Keaun Kinner

There was never any doubt about the winner of Friday night’s game between Little Elm and Frisco Liberty.

The Lobos stormed out to a 42-0 halftime lead at home and earned their first district win of the season.

That left little doubt about the top player in the contest, with senior running back Keaun Kinner exploding for 343 yards and five touchdowns on 32 carries.

Most impressive was the fact that Kinner played only two quarters with Little Elm head coach Donald Stowers electing to sit a majority of his starters in the second half with the game well in hand.

Kinner has now run for more than 1,300 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season while averaging just under nine yards per carry.

The senior running back looked to add to those totals Thursday night with a district meeting against Frisco. However, results were not available as of press time.
