The first of the heavyweight matches between that group occurs on Thursday when Poteet hosts Highland Park at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.
If those teams can avoid an upset, the 10-4A championship will be decided on who fares better in the head-to-head match-ups.
West Mesquite, meanwhile, will continue to take care of business against the rest of the district when it takes on North Forney.
