Chargers have no problems with Prince of Peace

Published: Saturday, October 13, 2012 11:28 PM CDT
A week after a rare close game against Parish Episcopal, Dallas Christian got back to what it was used to.

Namely, relaxing during the fourth quarter.

The Chargers raced to a 49-0 lead by halftime and cruised to a 56-0 blowout of Carrollton Prince of Pearce on Friday at Charger Stadium.

Dallas Christian remains perfect on the season at 6-0 and it will put its 3-0 record in TAPPS 2-II on the line against the district's only other undefeated team, Bullard Brook Hill, next Friday.

Prince of Peace entered the contest with only one loss on the season, but the outcome was settled pretty quickly.

Kalif Joseph had a 16-yard touchdown run and D'Andre Cannon followed with scoring runs of 12 and 20 yards to stake the Chargers to a 21-0 lead at the end of one quarter.

The onslaught continued in the second. Alex Craig threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Dominique Weaver and then a 54-yarder to Cannon to make it 35-0.

Ivan Burrell added a 17-yard touchdown run and then the defense got into the act when Shawn Isham returned a fumble 58 yards for a score to stretch the advantage to 49-0 at halftime.

The second half was rather uneventful offensively except for a short touchdown run by Joseph. The only suspense was in holding on to the shutout, which the Chargers did, holding Prince of Peace to only 160 yards in the game.
