Wranglers mow down North Forney to set up showdown with Highland Park

For the second consecutive week, West Mesquite did not put up flashy offensive numbers.
That is because for the second consecutive week, they did not have to.
A week after slamming the door on Terrell, the Wrangler defense stymied North Forney to help key a 26-7 victory at Forney's City Bank Stadium.
The Wranglers were certainly solid on offense, putting up 380 total yards. But with the defense holding North Forney off the scoreboard until late in the fourth quarter, quarterback Chason Virgil and company could be patient and take the opportunities that were there.
That first chance came in the first quarter when Raashaan Reason scored on a 6-yard touchdown run to give them a 6-0 lead.
Just a few minutes later, Miguel Garza booted a 23-yard field goal to make it 9-0.
West Mesquite kept it going in the second, as Virgil threw a 25-yard scoring strike to Jakeelin Hankins and Garza added another field goal to give them a 19-0 advantage at halftime.
The teams were scoreless in the third quarter, which left North Forney hanging around within striking distance, but the Wranglers finally put it away for good when Reason's 6-yard run in the fourth made it 26-0.
The Falcons would finally break their scoring drought late on a touchdown pass from Armani Watts to Brendon Lyons, but that was all they would get.
