Longhorns Driven for Charity

Longhorn cattle were driven through the streets of The Village Shopping Center in Allen on Wednesday, October 24. The bovine symbols of Texas were part of a parade that wound its way through The Village and ended at the Allen Event Center. Police cars and a fire engine led the parade, and cowboys and cowgirls drove the cattle on horseback. The parade launched the Tom Thumb Texas Stampede, an event consisting of a charity gala and rodeo performances. Proceeds will benefit children’s charities across North Texas, such as ManeGait Therapeutic Horsemanship, River Ranch Educational Charities, and Camp John Marc. The Texas Stampede Charity Gala will take place on Thursday, November 8th from 6:30pm-10:00pm, and rodeo performances will be on Friday, November 9th at 7:30pm and Saturday the 10th at noon and 7:30pm. Concerts will follow the rodeo performances and are included in the price of the tickets, with Tracy Lawrence performing on Friday night and Lee Brice on Saturday night. There will also be family activities such as pony rides and a petting zoo. Tickets can be purchased at Tom Thumb stores, the Allen Event Center box office, and at ticketmaster.com.
