Connemara 'Hops for Habitat' brewfest series sets sail for Lake Lewisville

Dec. 1 event to feature lake cruise, holiday light show

ALLEN -- An evening cruise featuring a tour of holiday displays will highlight The Connemara Conservancy Foundation's next "Hops For Habitat" Brewfest, Dec. 1 on Lake Lewisville.

The third in the series of fundraising event benefitting the Conservancy's conservation efforts will feature a cruise on the Chamonix II catamaran around Lake Lewisville, and will include a chance for participants to help judge the holiday light display competition along the Lake Lewisville shore. The party will cast off from Pier 121 Marina at 5 p.m. and return to the dock at 8 p.m.

Tickets for the event, at $50 each and limited to 100 attendees, are now on sale to the public at connemaraconservancy.org.

Each event in the "Hops For Habitat" Brewfest Series is designed to promote a local brewery and feature meat and produce from local farmers and ranchers. This Dec. 1 event will highlight the Lakewood Brewing Company.

Funds raised from the event go to support the Connemara Conservancy Foundation's mission of helping farmers, ranchers, cities and developers work together to protect and preserve critical open space and habitats remaining throughout North Texas.

"Between the lake, the stars and the holiday lights, this should be a magical evening," said Connemara Executive Director Sandra Greenway. "And we are especially excited to be featuring the Lakewood Brewing company for this event. They are truly a star on the emerging local brewery scene."

Additional "Hops for Habitat" events are being scheduled for 2013 throughout North Texas with dates and locations to be announced later.

About The Connemara Conservancy

The Connemara Conservancy Foundation (CCF) was created in 1981 when Frances Williams donated her family's beloved 72-acre meadow for public use as the Foundations's initial property under a Conservation Land Trust.

For several years, the Foundation focused much of its work on education programs in the meadow until Mrs. Williams and the Connemara Board of Trustees identified a need to expand the conservation efforts to include more tracts of land in North Texas.

Today, the Connemara Conservancy Foundation protects almost 4,000 acres of open space throughout North Texas. Connemara is an active member of the National Land Trust Alliance, the Texas Land Trust Alliance and the Center for Nonprofit Management.
