A week after an east Plano man was found dead inside his residence, police have still not been able to determine any possible motive or suspects in his death.
Billy Joe Tanner, 50, was found dead in the 3100 block of Royal Oaks Drive Sunday night. Officers responding to the scene reported the injuries did not appear self-inflicted, nor did it appear Tanner died of natural causes.
An autopsy report from the Collin County Medical Examiner is still pending, said Plano PD spokesman David Tilley.
Tilley said there are persons of interest in the case, but stopped short of calling them suspects.
“We have been talking to a lot of people including friends, family and co-workers trying to get some sort of an idea such as a motive,” he said. “We are not ready to release information on any suspects we might have, but we have some people we are looking at. We just haven’t been able to rule them as suspects at this time.”
Tanner was discovered by officers after a family member, who owned the house, returned home from a weekend trip. Upon entering the house, she called police when something didn’t seem right, Tilley said. When officers responded they discovered Tanner in the bedroom of the residence.
Anyone with information on this incident or the whereabouts of Tanner’s truck should call the Plano PD tip line at 972-941-2148 or the Crime Stoppers tip line at 877-373-8477.
