Tucker Hill residents 'Deck the Porches' and prepare for 'Holiday Tour of Homes'

Published: Wednesday, November 28, 2012 4:33 PM CST
Tucker Hill, a traditional neighborhood development located just north of Hwy. 380 in McKinney, continues their quest to usher in another holiday season in style!  Residents are responding to the challenge of their fourth porch decorating contest held this year by pulling out their lights, greenery, ribbons and bows for what promises to be the most competitive seasonal contest yet.

With a $100 prize for first and a $50 prize for second, the judges for the community’s developer, Southern Land Company, will be faced with some hard choices.

“From what we saw from the July 4th, Autumn Décor and Halloween contests, we anticipate that more than 75 percent of our residents will decorate their porches and home exteriors for the holidays,” said Jamie Spence, resident activity coordinator.

All of this holiday décor will only add to the neighborhood’s charm as one of Tucker Hill’s residents, the Moore family, is going the extra mile in preparing for the holidays.  Their home will be showcased in McKinney’s 39th Annual “Holiday Tour of Homes” set for Dec. 1 and 2 and benefitting Chestnut Square Historic Village.

Although a new home, the Moore’s residence is a Queen Anne Victorian and features historical influences inside and out.  Known for their holiday hospitality as hosts of the neighborhood’s annual Christmas party, Kathy Moore says that “John and I thought this was like hosting the Christmas party, without all the food!  Much easier (or so we think!).”
