Cirro Energy decorates "Little Angels Tree" with family favorite ornaments

Published: Wednesday, December 19, 2012 1:11 PM CST
Cirro Energy, a subsidiary of Dominion Resources, is using social media to help Texas children in need with its "Little Angels Tree" campaign. Through Tuesday, Dec. 18, individuals are asked to post a photo of their favorite holiday tree ornament on the Retail Electric Provider's Facebook account. Cirro Energy will donate $5 for each ornament post, up to $10,000 total, to three children's charities, Plano Children's Medical Clinic, Kids Meals of Houston and Community Partners of Dallas.

"We want to help thousands of at-risk children throughout Texas this Holiday season," said Cindi Wakefield, spokes woman for Cirro Energy. "In addition to donating time and money this year, we hope to rally the community with the 'Little Angels Tree' campaign. By inviting the public to engage in Cirro Energy's donation to three non-profits that focus on children, we hope to spark grassroots support for our local little angels."

From volunteering time to donating money, Cirro Energy has helped nonprofits improve the lives of fellow Texans. This holiday season, it's using a new, more social approach.

"Social media is the perfect way to engage people and promote awareness in charitable opportunities during the holidays," said Wakefield. "Anyone can post a photo of a favorite ornament for the 'Little Angels Tree' on our Facebook page. Each post will represent a $5 donation. There is no cost to the person who shares a favorite ornament photo."

Community Partners of Dallas is dedicated to ensuring safety and restoring dignity and hope to abused and neglected children. It provided resources and support to more than 20,000 children last year.

In Houston, Kids' Meals delivers nutritious meals to the doors of children in need, free of cost. Texas' only meals-on-wheels service for children, the organization provides healthy home-delivered lunches to about 1,700 children daily under the age of five who live in poverty.

Plano Children's Medical Clinic provides high quality primary medical care for children in need on Medicaid, CHIP or without insurance. Its healthcare providers have seen over 100,000 children for well-visits, sick-care and immunizations.
