A soldier from The Colony dies during patrol

A soldier from The Colony has died while serving as part of Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
Sgt. Enrique Mondragon, 23, died Christmas Eve in Baraki Barak due to injuries sustained after his unit was attacked by small arms fire while on a dismounted patrol.
According to a press release issued Wednesday, Mondragon was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Detachment, 173rd Special Troops Battalion, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team based out of Bamberg, Germany.
