Jimmy John's, residential community cleared for development

The Allen City Council cleared the way for the creation of two new businesses and a new residential development during Tuesday's council meeting.
The City Council approved a specific-use permit for a Jimmy John's and Crossfit training center, as well as a rezoning request for a new residential development that will include space for 31 homes. The development will be called Belmont Estates, and it will be built on land south of Stacy Road and east of Angel Parkway originally zoned for use as a shopping center.
Once built, the new Jimmy John's will be north of Exchange Parkway and east of Bossy Boots Drive. It will be the franchise's first store in Allen. The store required a specific-use permit because it will include drive-thru service.
Crossfit will occupy a suite in a shopping center at 2023 W. McDermott Dr.
