McKinney, TX, January 15, 2013 --- Collin County Historical Society & Museum proudly presents "Pieces of the Past" Historic Quilt Exhibition, opening Jan. 31, 2013. The exhibit features 100 years of North Texas history through quilts from the 1840s to the 1940s.

Visit the museum between Jan. 31 and March 23 and enjoy the lost art of hand quilting represented by these beautiful pieces of our past. You will see unique hand-quilted patterns and fabrics of the day, while you learn about the quilters' family stories. Many of the quilts are from the collection of the Collin County Historical Society. In addition, we have the pleasure of including quilts from the private collections of Diana Miller, Jennifer Wilson Davis McCarley, Kathryn Waite, Ruth Bison, and Carolyn Miller.

Special events are planned throughout the exhibit.  Please find additional information on our website, www.collincountyhistoricalsociety.org. The museum will be open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 11AM – 4PM for the duration of the show. General admission is $10, seniors $7.50, and members attend free of charge. CCHS is located in McKinney at 300 E. Virginia St. at Chestnut.

The Collin County Historical Society was founded in 1957 by Captain Roy Hall. The organization was formalized in 1984. The museum originally opened as a Federal Post Office on Virginia Street in McKinney in late 1911. CCHS and North Texas History Center continue to serve Collin County and the surrounding communities by preserving and teaching North Texas history through artifacts, documents, and photographs.
