Joan Elizabeth Goff Carlisle was born in Shreveport, Louisiana on February 15, 1937, to Dr. William Hunter Goff and Carolyn Elizabeth Bush Goff.

She left this world to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 20, 2013, in Lewisville, Texas.

Joan Carlisle, known fondly to many as "Joanie" or "Momia," was born into a prominent family which included doctors, lawyers, teachers, politicians, soldiers, farmers, merchants, tradesmen, housewives and other hard-working folks.

At 3 months her family moved to Rockford, Alabama. In 1955 she graduated Coosa County (Rockford) High School and eventually obtained degrees in English, art, psychology and library science from Jacksonville State University.

In addition to raising four children, her career included social worker for the Alabama Department of Pensions & Security, and intake counselor at C.A.R.P. in West Palm Beach, Florida.

On June 2, 1954, she married Casper Carlisle. They settled in Ashville, Alabama, where they raised their four children, Donna, David, Hunter and Tim.

In 1991 she moved to Flower Mound, Texas, with her son Tim and his two children, Joshua and Amanda.

She had a very good life in her Texas retirement, where she participated in church, various organizations and made many friends. Her family and friends will miss her but have the blessed assurance she is rejoicing in Heaven right now.

She is survived by her children, Donna Carlisle Winterbourne of Panama City Beach, Florida, David Carlisle and wife Terri of Tarrant City, Alabama, Hunter Carlisle of Rockford, Alabama and Tim Carlisle and wife Nancy of Flower Mound, Texas. Her surviving siblings include William H. (Bill) Goff and wife Judy of Leeds, Alabama, George Goff of Tallahassee, Florida, and Donna Goff of Rockford, Alabama, whose husband, John Goff (Joan's brother), preceded her in death; brother-in-law Roger Carlisle and wife Mazelle and brother-in-law Wendell Carlisle and wife Kay. She is survived by two aunts, Mrs. Lillian Bush Kelley of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Mrs. Edith Bush Shores of North Port, Alabama. She is survived by her 12 grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

·  Her Texas memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday January 26, 2013, at First Baptist Church of Flower Mound, 1901Timber Creek Road, Flower Mound, TX 75028.


·  Her Alabama memorial service and burial will be at Sears Chapel United Methodist Church, US 231 (2 miles north of Rockford) Rockford, Alabama 35136 on February 2 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow at Rockford United Methodist Church on Main Street in Rockford.
