Wednesday is the first day that candidates can file for various elected positions in the area, including the Southlake City Council.
Places 3, 4 and 5 are up for election this year.
Brandon Bledsoe, who sits on Place 3, has announced he will seek re-election.
Bledsoe was elected in 2009 to the council in 2009. He has served on the Southlake 2030 Committee and the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) No. 1.
He was also on the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Southlake Program for the Involvement of Neighborhoods (SPIN).
Al Zito has served on Place 4 since 2010. He could not be reached for comment.
Zito has served on the arts committee, the audit committee, Metroport Teen Court, Southlake 2030 Plan Committee, the Southlake Parks Development Committee and the TIRZ No. 1.
Jeff Wang, who sits on Place 5, announced he is not seeking re-election. He said he wants to spend more time with his family.
Whas served on the council since 2010.
He said one of his accomplishments during his time on the council was being fiscally conservative.
“Even though we’re building a quality community, it doesn’t always equal spending a lot of money,” Wang said. “I wanted to make sure we spent only the money we had to and that we spent the right amount on the right projects. My goal was to not spend all the money we had and not to spend the money we didn’t have.”
The Carroll ISD Board of Trustees has two places up for election -- Place 6, which is occupied by John Thane and Place 7 (Sherri Williams).
Candidates can file for a place on the ballot until 5 p.m. March 1. The last day to register to vote is April 11.
Early voting runs from April 29 through May 7. Election Day is May 11.
