Driving Ohio State fans Bucknuts: Sorry I told everyone Mike Mitchell was going to Texas A&M

I do believe the last time I endeavored to write a Blogosaurus was a little more than a year and a half ago when I started my part-time radio gig as a host of The K&C Masterpiece on 105.3 The Fan.

But shameless self-promotion aside, though be aware that will probably pop back up later in this blog, I am ready to resurrect Blogosaurus ... so I am back!
Yep, off to a great start.
Several weeks ago I was on a podcast for Bucknuts (ohiostate.247sports.com) and we discussed the potential destinations for Prestonwood Christian Academy senior linebacker Mike Mitchell. Mitchell had been linked with schools like Oregon, Oklahoma, Florida State, but I said you could dismiss all those because it would come down to either Texas A&M or Ohio State.
Having attended A&M myself I stoked the fires a bit by going against conventional wisdom and saying Mitchell would pick the Aggies over Ohio State. A co-worker of mine, who is an Ohio State guy, said this sent the Bucknuts message boards into quite the tizzy ... do people still use that word ... eh, I'm sticking with it.
Good.
I didn't go on the message boards to read myself, something I've kept up since seemingly every school in the country was trying to secure Plano West alum Jackson Jeffcoat's commit his senior year (2009-10).
Seeing as how the defensive end was the No. 1 recruit in the nation, I obviously followed the situation pretty closely.
About two weeks before Jeffcoat committed ... which was quite the scene with the West gym more than half full ... I got a tip from an inside source, did the research and found out Jeffcoat was headed to Texas. I checked my sources, posted the blog and scooped everyone two weeks before the announcement.
Of course, this led to backlash from fans of other schools that were in the mix for Jeffcoat ... a backlash that seems warranted seeing as how Jeffcoat was positioned as a likely first round selection in the 2013 NFL Draft before he got injured earlier this season.
I got several emails from co-workers and friends with links to Oklahoma and USC message boards torching me and questioning my information. My favorite was a thread on a USC message board saying that since I lived in Texas, I was obviously biased toward the Longhorns and that's why I wrote Jeffcoat would be going there. Seeing as how I just mentioned my A&M ties and always call that other school T.U. (Texas University), such a notion was preposterous and I realized I didn't need to be reading such message boards.
I was right about Jeffcoat and, in this instance, clearly wrong about Mitchell.
Sorry if I made anyone from the Bucknuts nation sweat a bit, but I didn't say A&M just to be a homer.
Several months ago, Mitchell's dad Ken (a former linebacker for the Atlanta Falcons) told me his gut feeling was A&M. I never watched the show, but I did learn growing up that "Father Knows Best" and followed that line of logic when saying Mitchell would pick the Aggies ... OK, so maybe a tiny bit of homerism came into play as well, but who wouldn't want to be on the same team as Johnny Football, Johnny Heismanziel, Johnny Appleseed ... wait, not that last one ... whatever you want to call him?
Oops, I was wrong ... and you should know just saying those words hurts me.
I figured it would be best to start with a blog where I looked like a fool, set the bar low and attempt to build from there ... though, if you've ever read this blog, you know the bar doesn't get too much higher.
Who knows, maybe this time I'll get it right.
