Plano man found dead following single-car accident

A Plano man was found dead behind the wheel of a wrecked vehicle early Tuesday morning in the 2300 block of Hedgcoxe Road.
The deceased, identified as Robby Joe Steward III, 32, was found after Plano police officers responded to a report of a vehicle crash with serious injuries around 12:30 a.m.
Preliminary investigation revealed Steward was traveling eastbound on Hedgcoxe Road when his 2010 Nissan truck left the roadway and struck a tree prior to coming to a stop. Steward was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The cause of death is to be determined by the medical examiner, said Officer David Tilley of Plano PD. It is not clear what circumstances caused Steward to veer off the road, he said.
An investigation by the Plano Police Department's traffic unit is currently on-going.
