Filing period begins Wednesday

Wednesday is the first day that candidates can file for various elected positions in the area, including the Lewisville ISD Board of Trustees.
There are three seats up for election this year. Place 3 is vacant after Jeff Knapp left the seat last summer because he moved out of the district. Paige Shoven, who ran for Place 1 last year, has announced she will run for Place 3.
Place 4 is being vacated by Julie Foughty, who announced earlier this month she will not seek a second term. Kris Vaughn, who has volunteered for the district and has been on LISD's strategic design team, has said she will run in her spot.
Place 5 is also up for election. Incumbent Brenda Latham has announced she will seek a second term.
There will not be an election for The Colony City Council since none of the members' terms expire this year.
Candidates can file for a place on the ballot until 5 p.m. March 1. The last day to register to vote is April 11.
Early voting runs from April 29 through May 7. Election Day is May 11.
