Little Elm police responded to a call shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday to a residence in the 2600 block of Misty Harbor Drive where they discovered two deceased adults in what investigators believe was a murder-suicide.
Officers found one female adult and one male adult dead inside the home from bullet wounds. According to LEPD Cpt. Rodney Harrison, one adult was a resident of the home but the other was not.
"The investigation has led us to believe it was a murder-suicide," Harrison said. "We are not pursuing a suspect at this time."
The department was not prepared to release the names of the deceased since they were still contacting the next-of-kin, he added.
Harrison said after police had arrived at the residence, a man who was overcome with emotion approached the officers. He was not part of the scene.
"He knew the resident of the home and was just overcome with emotion," Harrison said. "His [juvenile] son had been at the residence when all this had transpired."
The son was not involved in the incident. However, other family members of one of the deceased were present at the home when the incident occurred.
"[The incident] is still under investigation," Harrison said. "We have the entire detective crew working on this."
The shooting is the third to occur in the area in as many months. A murder-suicide and attempted murder-suicide in which the victim survived took place in the nearby community of Providence Village in November and December, respectively.
