Preschool registration set
Preschool registration will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 4 to Feb. 15 at the new Carroll Administration Center, located at 2400 North Carroll Avenue. All completed packets are due no later than 4 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15 to Debra Neal at the administration center. No walk-in registrations will be accepted before or after theses dates or at any other CISD location.
Preschool information night will be held Tuesday, Jan. 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Rockenbaugh Elementary School library, located at 301 Byron Nelson Parkway in Southlake.
A "lottery" will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 9 a.m. at the administration center for all available openings and waiting lists.

Carroll AP art show debuts
The Carroll Art Department will host the opening of the AP Art Show at Carroll Senior High School Wednesday, Jan. 23. The show will be held in the CSHS Visual Art Gallery from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Carroll Art Department and the AP Boosters. The gallery will remain open through Wednesday, Jan. 30 during regular school hours.
Public education rally set
On Thursday, Feb. 7, three school districts - Carroll, Grapevine-Colleyville and Keller - are joining together for rally on school finance titled "Our Schools, Our Voice." It will be held at 7 p.m. in the Grapevine High School gym.
Relay For Life team captains meeting set
The first team captain meeting for Relay For Life of Southlake 2013 is next week. The meeting will include preparing both new and old team captains on the roles taken to create a successful team. It will be held Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 6-7 p.m. at the new Carroll ISD Administration Center, located at 2400 North Carroll Avenue.
SPARK hosting town hall meeting
SPARK will host a powerful Town Hall meeting Monday, Feb. 4 from 7:30 - 9 p.m. at Carroll Senior High School. Parents and middle and high school students are encouraged to attend.
Southlake junior debate club registration underway
Registration is now open for 7th and 8th grade students interested in debate. The Southlake Junior Debate Club is an after school club that meets on Wednesdays starting Jan. 9 through May 29 from 4:15- 6 p.m. at Carroll Senior High School. Southlake Junior Debate is a competitive club that will compete in 2-4 tournament this season.

College notes
The McNeese State University honor roll for the 2012 fall semester has been announced. The honor roll lists undergraduate students earning at least a 3.0 or B average while carrying 12 or more semester hours.
Southlake resident Jared C. Crafton made the honor roll.
Dragon debate sees success
Daniella Cohen placed second in domestic extemporaneous speaking, Ali Prasla placed third in congressional debate and Davis Samuel placed fourth in dramatic interpretation. Djorn Patel advanced to the elimination rounds of the top 50 out of more than 200 Lincoln-Douglas debaters at UCLA at its recent meet in Coppell.
Dragon CompSci brings home top prize
The Dragon Computer Science Team earned first place at the UIL meet in Flower Mound. First Place Computer Science Team includes students Reid Long, Eric Andrup and Abbas Ally. Third Place Computer Science Team includes George Farcasiu, Zech Hein and Nick Fisher. First Place Novice Programming was awarded to Ellie Miller, Matt Kendzior and Jake Rowland. Taking home individual awards include, Long and Farcasiu awarded first and fifth place, respectively. Also representing the Dragons were Danielle Brown and Stephen Ma.
Mandatory meeting set
All girls interested in joining the varsity or junior varsity Emerald Belle drill team must attend an upcoming meeting. The mandatory event is scheduled for Tuesday, March 5 at 7 p.m. inside the Carroll Senior High School cafeteria. The parent or candidate must attend. Organizers will discuss exact information on tryout requirements, rules and practice schedules.
This year's Emerald Belle Tryout Clinic will be held April 2-4 from 4:15- 6:15 p.m. each day. Emerald Belle tryouts will be Friday, April 5 at 4:15 p.m.
College and career transition expo set
The Carroll ISD Special Education Department hosts it's seventh annual College and Career Transition Expo Tuesday, Jan. 22. The expo will be held at Carroll Senior High School from 6:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m.
This program will help high school students with learning differences learn about colleges, application process, career opportunities, department of disabilities services and transition needs when pursuing post secondary education.
Ron Venable, M.A. Director, Office of Disability Accomodation University of North Texas will be the program's guest speaker. He will cover topics including tips for student success and exploring college and career/ trade schools. Carroll ISD counselors and diagnosticians will also be available to meet with students and parents during the event.
The University of North Texas, The University of Texas at Dallas, Texas Women's University, Northlake Community College, Tarrant County College District: Northeast Campus, ART Institute of Dallas and Timarron College Preparatory are just a few of the schools participating in the Expo.
