Published: Thursday, February 7, 2013 11:14 PM CST
It wasn't easy, but Poteet earned the three points it wanted to with a 1-0 victory over Terrell in the 23-4A opener on Tuesday.
The Pirates used a goal from Sagai Tystad and the defense made it hold up until the end.
West Mesquite had a district bye on Tuesday, but stayed active with a 2-0 victory over Molina. Sabrina Martinez and Erica Velasquez provided the scoring for the Wranglers, who will open 23-4A play on Friday at Crandall before returning home to play Terrell at A.C. New Middle School.
Poteet will try to continue its winning ways with a pair of road games at North Forney on Friday and at Kaufman on Tuesday.
