Funeral services for Dorotha Burge, 86, of Tyler, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Noonday Baptist Church with Rev. Park Robertson and Chaplain Kenn Somerville officiating.
She will be laid to rest at Pecan Grove Cemetery in McKinney under the direction of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Directors.

Dorotha was born August 7, 1926, in Blue Ridge, Texas, to the late Lester and Vera Campbell Tilley and passed away on Friday, January 25, 2013.

She was a member of Noonday Baptist Church and a past member of Countyline Baptist Church. Dorotha spent many years as a volunteer at Hospice of East Texas, The Tyler Food Pantry and several organizations associated with the YMCA of Whittier, Calif. She retired and lived with her husband A.L. "Tex" on Lake Palestine the past 19 years, where she spent her days gardening.

Diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2011, many caregivers have impacted her life and provided much love and support. Heart to Heart Hospice was instrumental in making her final days comfortable, for which the family remains very grateful.

Dorotha is preceded in death by husbands M. Bruce Hobbs and James W. Seago; sister, Gladys Spurgin; and brothers, Raymond Tilley, Lloyd Tilley, Glenn Tilley and Vernon Tilley.

Dorotha is survived by her loving husband, A.L. "Tex" Burge of Tyler; daughters, Judy Griffin of Tyler, Texas, Jerri Hatch of Carlsbad, Calif., and Jennifer Ramsey of Bullard, Texas; grandchildren Cassi Bell of Denver, Colo., and Jason Bell of Charleston, S.C.; brother, Charles Tilley of Princeton, Texas; along with several nieces and nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Ramsey, Charles Tilley, Raymond Tilley, David Tilley, Jerry G. Tilley, Lowell Barton Jr. and Jeff Buntz.

Visitation was from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home of Tyler, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice of Tyler, Texas, or Alzheimer's Alliance of Smith County.
