Harold Colvin has filed to run for Frisco City Council's Place 4, ensuring that a municipal election will take place on May 11.
Colvin will run against incumbent candidate John Keating, who has served on the council since 2010. Mayor Pro Tem Jeff Cheney will be the de-facto winner of Place 2 as no candidates filed to run against him.
At a special City Council meeting held 5:15 p.m. Friday, council members voted to approve polling contracts with both Collin County and Denton County for a joint election. As a result of the approval, the Frisco ISD Board of Trustees race will also be featured on the same ballot as the City Council race, as will the race for Collin College Board of Trustees.
On Election Day, Precinct 1 is set to vote at Pioneer Heritage Middle School, Precinct 2 at Staley Middle School, Precinct 3 at Wester Middle School and Precinct 4 at Hicks Elementary School.
In addition to approval of polling locations, council members also voted to hold a special bond election on May 11.
That bond election will seek voter approval for the soon-to-be-built Fire Station No. 8. If passed, voters will allow $8 million worth of general obligation bonds to be used for the station's construction.
On Election Day, voters within Frisco ISD's boundaries will also be voting for a Place 1 trustee on the school board. Bryan Dodson and Greg Strange have filed to run for that position. Brenda Polk, the current Place 1 trustee, announced before the filing period began that she would not be seeking re-election.
No candidates filed to run against incumbents Renée Ehmke and Dan Mossakowski for Place 2 and Place 3, respectively, in the Frisco ISD school board race, making them the de-facto winners.
