A freshman Baylor University student from Frisco died Sunday afternoon following an incident at a student organization's dance practice.

Kevin Signo, who graduated from Frisco High School last year, died at about 4 a.m. Sunday following an accident the previous day, a Baylor spokeswoman said.

"Kevin was attending a practice of a student organization's dance group, and during a break apparently attempted a flip, and I believe he landed on his head and suffered an injury," said Lori Fogleman, director of media communications for the university. "He was taken to a local hospital by ambulance."

Several friends and the university chaplain visited with Signo before he succumbed to his injuries, Fogleman said.

Signo was a pre-biology major at the university, where he was well-liked and involved in multiple student organizations, Fogleman added.

"Our hearts are broken," she said. "Kevin was very bright. Our deepest thoughts and prayers are with Kevin's friends and family at this time."

Signo's funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Turrentine, Jackson & Morrow Funeral Home, located at 2525 N. Central Expressway in Allen. A visitation will take place 6-9 p.m. prior to the funeral.
