Eagles second in Coppell
Allen's boys and girls track and field teams were just short of victory at the Coppell Relays.
Both Eagles' squads settled for second at Saturday's meet, with the boys denied by Southlake Carroll (122-120) and the girls by Flower Mound Marcus (104-102).
Allen returns to action today at 4 p.m. from Eagle-Mustang Stadium in Richardson for the Pearce Mustang Relays.
Black named WAC Pitcher of the Week
Texas State sophomore Taylor Black, an Allen alum, was selected as the Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
The award is for the week ending Sunday.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound right-hander hurled a complete-game shutout last week in Texas State's 13-0 victory over Northern Kentucky. Black gave up only one hit and allowed three walks while tallying 10 strikeouts.
Revolution routed in opener
The Texas Revolution surrendered 36 unanswered points to begin its 2013 IFL run and never recovered in Friday's 61-20 season-opening loss to the Cedar Rapids Titans.
Just over a week removed from posting 103 points in preseason action, the Revolution failed to score their first points until 10:44 remained in the third quarter following a 2-yard touchdown pass from Marcus Jackson to Justin Siller.
The game was already out of reach as the Titans racked up 317 yards of offense to Texas' 144.
Jackson, who passed for just 114 yards on 12-of-42 attempts, found Jeremy Brown for 33 yards for the Revolution's second score of the night midway through the third and Mon Williams scored on a 5-yard run with 51 seconds left in the game.
The Revolution return to action at 2 p.m. March 17 when they travel to play the Chicago Slaughter.
Up All Night tennis returns
Allen tennis will host its 7th annual Up All Night fundraiser April 26.
The event operates just as the title suggests with players staying up throughout the evening and engaging in a variety of competitions in an effort to raise money for the program and the Foundation for Allen Schools. Formerly reserved for just varsity players, Allen ISD middle school players were brought into the fold last year.

Hall of Honor nominations
Though the Allen ISD began enshrining people into its Hall of Honor when Eagle Stadium opened, the district is still seeking future nominees.
Candidates must be ex-athletes, employees, teams or supporters of AISD. They must have graduated from Allen at least 10 years ago and demonstrated good character throughout their post-high school athletic career. If a nominee is deceased, a representative of his/her family may accept the honor.
Nomination forms can be found at: allenisd.org.
Nominations should include as much detail as possible to help choose the best candidates. The selection committee will name recipients at an annual AISD Hall of Honor banquet.
Tripucka joining Aggies
Allen senior punter Shane Tripucka will be joining Texas A&M as a preferred walk-on.
Tripucka had been on the Aggies' radar for some time as he attended a kicking camp in College Station over the summer. That gave A&M an advantage over Sam Houston State, where he was offered a scholarship, and preferred walk-on status at Texas, Texas Tech and Boston College.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder averaged 42 yards per punt in 2012 as part of an Eagles squad that won the Class 5A Division I State Championship.
