23-4A GIRLS SOCCER: Poteet takes care of North Forney, Wranglers pick up huge victory

Poteet and Forney have seemed destined to be the top two teams in 23-4A since early in the season and it appears they are on a collision course to decide the district championship when they meet next Friday.
The Pirates got two goals from Kaylah Hunter and another score from Yaritsi Miranda in a 3-0 shutout of North Forney on Tuesday.
Poteet (7-0-1-0, 23 points) maintains its slim lead on first place over the Jackrabbits (7-0-0-1, 22 points), who pounded Terrell, 11-1.
The Wranglers (4-3-0-0, 12 points) continue to impress during district play as they move into a tie for third with Crandall (4-4-0-0, 12 points), despite having played one fewer game.
While West Mesquite has put itself in good position, it cannot afford a letdown, as it plays a pair of teams below them in the 23-4A standings. The Wranglers will play on the road at Terrell on Friday and then host North Forney on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.
If West Mesquite can take care of business in both of those games, it could possibly be enough to clinch a playoff spot.
Poteet has a Saturday matinee against Kaufman and a bye early next week to rest up for its showdown with Forney next Friday at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.
