11-5A GIRLS SOCCER: Eagles knock off Naaman Forest to force tie for first place

Rowlett and Naaman Forest entered Tuesday's match even in the 11-5A standings and their head-to-head clash mirrored how close they are.
But the Eagles got a goal from Grayson Byrd and that proved to be enough for a 1-0 victory at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.
With the win, Rowlett improved to 8-2 in district play and moves into a tie for first place with Sachse, who was idle on Tuesday.
All four teams have clinched playoff berths, but there is still seeding on the line as the regular season heads into the final week.
Rowlett closes the season with a pair of games against non-playoff opponents. They will face North Garland on Friday at 4 p.m. at Homer B. Johnson Stadium and then take on Lakeview on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Williams Stadium.
Sachse will face winless South Garland on Friday at 6 p.m. at Williams Stadium before a potentially big game on Tuesday against Naaman Forest at 6 p.m. at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.
The other big game of the week features the Rangers and Owls, who will lock horns on Friday at 8 p.m. at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.
